Espresso machine size finder
Pick your espresso machine to see its portafilter size and the tamper, puck screen and dosing funnel sizes that fit, each linked to its source.
Short answer
Choose your machine in the finder below to see its portafilter size and the accessory sizes that fit it: tamper, puck screen and dosing funnel, plus its group type and what is known about bottomless portafilters for it. Each figure comes from the machine maker, a basket maker or an accessory maker's compatibility guide, and the model's own page links it to its source. Where no maker states a figure, the finder shows "Not confirmed" instead of a guess.
What the finder shows
Pick a model and the finder lists the sizes recorded for it, with a link to the model's full page, where each figure is tied to its source. For a Breville Bambino, for example, Breville gives a 54 mm portafilter,[1] and Normcore's compatibility guide gives a 53.3 mm tamper and puck screen with a 54 mm dosing funnel.[2]
That example shows why the finder lists tool sizes separately. A tamper or puck screen has to fit inside the basket, so it is usually a little smaller than the portafilter's name, while a funnel sits on the rim and matches it. The basket and tamper size guide explains this in detail and shows how to measure your own basket.
Where the numbers come from
The figures come from four kinds of source, and each model page says which. When they differ, we give the most weight to the first:
- The basket maker, for anything that depends on the basket. VST specifies 58.40 mm for its baskets, and IMS gives 53 to 53.4 mm for its Breville basket.[3][4]
- The machine maker, in product pages, spare-part lists and manuals. Profitec's PRO 400 manual, for example, recommends a 58.4 mm tamper.[5]
- An accessory maker's compatibility guide, such as Normcore's, which recommends sizes for its own products.[2]
- A retailer, only when no maker publishes the figure, and labeled as such. The model list for De'Longhi's DLSC085 bottomless portafilter, for example, comes from a retailer's listing.[6]
A figure that no maker states stays "Not confirmed". We would rather send you to measure than print a number we cannot trace.
When sources disagree
Sometimes they do. Profitec's manual recommends a 58.4 mm tamper for the PRO 400, while Normcore lists 58.5 mm for the same machine.[5][2] Flair calls 58.4 mm the best fit for the Flair 58 and 58.5 mm the largest.[7] In those cases, prefer your basket maker's figure; 58 vs 58.5 mm tampers explains the trade-off.
Lelit publishes no basket diameter for its LELIT57 and LELIT58 groups; it names the tool system instead.[8][9] Treat any decimal you see elsewhere for those machines as someone else's figure.
If your machine is not listed
- Start from its family: Breville 54 mm machines, Breville 58 mm machines, De'Longhi 51 mm machines or commercial-size 58 mm machines.
- Look for a brand stamp on the basket and check that maker's page.
- Measure the inside of the basket where the coffee bed sits, as the size guide describes.
Then choose the accessories
Once you know your sizes, our shortlists name the variant to order for each machine family: tampers, puck screens, dosing funnels and bottomless portafilters. The accessory finder filters our picks by basket size.

Questions
Why does a 54 mm Breville need a 53.3 mm tamper?
Because the tamper has to fit inside the basket. Normcore designs its 53.3 mm tamper for Breville's 54 mm baskets, and IMS gives 53 to 53.4 mm for its Breville basket.[10][4]
What does "Not confirmed" mean in the size finder?
No maker page we could open states that figure, so we do not show one. Measure your basket instead, using the basket size guide.
My machine is not in the list. What now?
Start from its family: Breville 54 mm, Breville 58 mm, De'Longhi 51 mm or commercial-size 58 mm. Then check for a brand stamp on the basket, or measure the inside of the basket where the coffee sits.
Why do sources disagree on 58.4 mm and 58.5 mm tampers?
They are sizing for different baskets and products. Profitec's manual recommends 58.4 mm for the PRO 400, while Normcore, sizing its own tampers, lists 58.5 mm for the same machine; VST specifies 58.40 mm for its baskets. Prefer your basket maker's figure.[5][3][2]
